DIA DEL CHUY , celebrating the birthday of the homie CHUY at Houston's beloved venue THE END. The show featured Houston heavy hitters Bong Wizard ,Party Mouth and The Virulent.

The Virulent

Kicking off the night, Houston's legendary Progressive /Thrash Metal all stars, The Virulent , played a packed set with several iconic tracks from their catalog "They Live", "Through The Vastness", "Sacred Lands", "The Protocol", "Tornado of Souls" and "Sentenced to Death".

The thrashers debuting their recent single ,"Through The Night".

"This past Sunday I saw The Virulent at The End, in Houston for the first time. I really liked their speed and sound mostly. One thing that draws me to certain artists is how they make use of rhythms. Mainly with the guitar and drums to make a very satisfying rhythm and to me this band had that. All their songs were full of energy and with a great sound." - Chris L.

With the crowd wanting more , several requests came in for the band , with hella enthusiasm , the band decided on playing "Peace Sells, Who's Buying?", ending their electrifying set , their energy setting the tone that carried on through the night.

Party Mouth

Carrying the sprit of fast pace fun, Party Mouth brought the spirit of Punk and Ska influences to the nonstop action of the night.

Kicking ass since their inception , the four piece , not afraid to bring humor and chill, gave some insight to SPIRAL about their debut post Y2k entrance into the Houston music scene circa 2015. Staring off as a DIY project in their bed Room , Party mouth began touring on the East coast and expanded into Texas.

Party Mouth has gone by many names and is currently in a state of redefining their sound and presence but can be found in various projects through out the robust musicscape such as "Escape from The Zoo", "The Dead Rabbits" , "Days N' Days" and more. Though taking a low key approach , the bands sound speaks for its self in a big way. What was endearing about Party Mouth was their versatility with their change of playing styles and ability to switch between tempo but staying in sync while having fun.

Party Mouths approach is refreshing in the often scripted presence of the social media driven world. With trends , hashtags and influencer culture shaping navigation of artists , It is often hard to tell when an artist is masking behind what record executives or an audience may want but with Party Mouth you get uncapped fun, excitement and the spirit of doing what you love without compromising for validation. Whether the band is playing original pieces or covering their personal favorites , it is evident the spirit of punk rock and artistic integrity is the driving force of what makes Party Mouth so great.

Bong Wizard

In a green haze of smoke and fury , the dual cost icons Bong wizard took to the stage. The group featured deep chest thumping, cutting bass lines, complemented by psychedelic guitars and hypnotic bone rattling drum beats .

The crowd couldn't help but get lost in the wave of the other worldly groove. Highlighting tracks "Christ is Resin", "Left Hand Pass", "Spliff Burton", Vulgar Display Of Flower" and "Sativa".

The band invokes the cosmic groove of Kyuss, the crushing weight of Weedeater, and the melodic atmospheres of SLEEP as their top three sonic inspirations.

"2nd time seeing Bong Wizard, they never disappoint, love the energy they bring! 10/10" - Juan Quevedo

Bong Wizard recently completed their tour with H-Town Doom legends Stone Nomads , at the Tampa Doom & Gloom Fest. The band announced that they will preparing for an upcoming hiatus to focus on their next big project. Stating that the Dia Del CHUY will be the last show of the year.
