Q&A W/ ALO , RESIST LA
What is your origin story - Beyond the stage , who are you ?
A: Hello! Alo here, vocalist for Resist LA. Origin story there isn't much out of the ordinary. Grew up in a middle income home in not the best of neighborhoods. I feel like that built character and shaped me into the person I have become today. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. The day to day life isn't too much either. I am a bartender outside of music so I can save up money to invest in the band and myself.
What made you decide to become a musician/artist?
A: I feel like music was always a part of my life. My earliest childhood memories are filled with music. I grew up playing in the church so it was always there. And now it is what I am pursuing as a career.
When reflecting on your artist name , provide in sight to "Resist LA"
A: The idea behind Resist LA started at the beginning of Covid. And with all the riots and things going on I felt it was important to resist against all the bullshit that society tries to cloud our minds with. And Resist LA is basically the west coast revolution to all the bullshit is the best way to explain it.
When did you begin making music and how has your process changed between the start of vs now?
A: I have been playing music all my life. Since I was at least 5 years old. Before tho it was all about learning the instruments and covering our favorite songs as kids. Now we create music that makes us feel those same feelings we felt as children listening to our favorite songs. Creating has been one of my favorite parts of being a musician.
What made you decide to learn your instrument(s)?
A: Playing in the church forced me to learn how to play multiple instruments which I am very grateful for now. I started doing vocals in college because the band I was in at the time could not find a vocalist. I would sit in my car to and from school screaming my ass off and here we are now lol.
What inspired you to write your catalog?
A: Life. All of our music is a culmination of all our life experiences growing up. Even the parts that do not sound like it are rooted in life experience.
What would you say to other artists or creatives who are wanting to create as well?
A: Just do it! There is nothing more rewarding than creating. Especially if you have passion for it.
How has the process been creating your album and what Are you looking forward to with your album/tracks?
A: It has been a blast. We recently linked up with a producer so seeing the way our music has taken on new life has been amazing to experience. Just to see the reception it gets. You never know what you have until it sees the light of day. Also to finally release a collection of music. We have been doing the single route and to release a full collection will be amazing.
Lyrically what have been your favorite tracks in your discography and your most recent releases?
A: 1312 and F*ck Ice for sure. Both can be seen as controversial but it is just how we feel and how those topics have affected our communities.
What is one track /lyrics/ piece of art in your catalog that describes your work the best?
A:Probably Real Blood. That song talks about our cultural pride and how we can express ourselves through music. It is also a chance to have fun with it while singing about things that are important to us.
What is your most recent tour you’d like to share or what has been your favorite so far?
A: Last tour we did was a solo run starting in Albuquerque and going through Texas and back through Arizona. That tour was an absolute blast. Every show rocked and it was a great time seeing so many friends. That was probably my favorite tour to date.
If you could make a dream tour, Who would be your dream tour mates?
A: OOOO this is a fun one. Lets see probably Kublai Khan, Gideon, Thrown. That would be a fun one.

A: I do not drink dark soda but our bass player Gene would for sure say Coke zero
Alo, What do you want the listeners to know about your music and your project?
A: Just know that this project is meant to be fun, but also address issues and experiences that are very important and mean a lot to us. But all we can hope for is that people enjoy our music as much as we enjoyed making it.
