From bone shaking ,face melting psychobilly bad-assery in Straight From the Grave to the ethereal other worlds of post punk stylings in Synthesis EFX , Andy EFX orchestrates his multi-instrumental background to bring forth high octane creations. Spiral had the privilege to discover the fundamentals of Andy EFX where he gives us a peak into what it is like to walk the lines of ebb and flo. Between the personal delicate moments of creating to the ecstatic onstage energetic performances , Andy takes us for a trip into his process.

My name is Andrew Molina Venegas, otherwise known as Andy EFX. I am a 2nd generation Chicano artist based out of Southern California. No matter what , I always choose to be my unique self unapologetically, and I freely express that in my writing. The foundation for my taste in music stem back to punk ideology.
I definitely run with a small circle, and we constantly keep the ball rolling. When I’m not performing or rehearsing I’m at shows having fun supporting and I look forward to seeing you guys out there!

What made you decide to become a musician/artist?
AFX: I was failing so bad in school and couldn’t seem to give a shit about much besides blasting music on my headphones 24/7.
The high school counselor noticed and placed me in guitar as an elective. As soon as I got assigned a guitar it was a wrap, done deal, decision sealed.
When did you begin making music and how has your process changed between the start of vs now?
AFX: I started making music in 2019. At the start my process was a mess, I would start something and not finish or just constantly change the project till it was unrecognizable.
Now n days I have everything ready to go at all times, my rig and mic are always set up.
If I have an idea or inspiration strikes I hit it while the iron is hot!
I lock in with what I’m feeling and complete the project! What I don’t want is to jump back into the track with a different feeling that could change the sound.

What made you decide to learn your instrument(s)?
AFX: Originally it was because the instruments challenged me in a way that I enjoyed. Eventually it turned into something where I just get excited to practice rudiments or learn new techniques.

What inspired you to write your catalog?
AFX: My catalog is inspired by my life experiences with debauchery romanticism, heartbreak, memento mori, Or just overall deep feelings. It’s probably fucked up.. but I like to mix all that into dance tracks.

What would you say to other artists or creatives who are wanting to create as well?
AFX: Spend your time creating that one thing that is really you! Everyone has a thing that makes them unique, build on that!

How has the process been creating your album?
AFX: The process for (couldn’t be) was natural, it just flowed. Maybe it was the right timing or the coffee idk, but it’s got me fired up to release a lot more often.

What are you looking forward to with your album/track?
AFX: This track is me reintroducing my solo work and I’m looking forward to following up with more releases.
My recent release is a single titled (Couldn’t Be) with an added instrumental bonus track called Xoxo. My favorite track is called (It’s just a way) and it’s about coming to terms with your own mistakes.
What is one track /lyrics/ piece of art in your catalog that describes your work the best?
AFX:I’m gonna go with lyrics, I wrote this for my project Synthesis EFX-(Day after Day)”You know it’s feeling the same, I’m stuck in a life that doesn’t feel really mine, I need an escape, my own little way to express my fears as I hold back tears”.

What is your most recent tour you’d like to share or what has been your favorite so far?
AFX: I had a local tour with Synthesis EFX last summer 2025 and my favorite stop was at Bricks Bar in Maywood Ca. Something clicked and I Definitely became a better live performer that night! I engaged with that crowd and held that from beginning to end, it was intense.
If you could make a dream tour, Who would be your dream tour mates?
AFX:Shoutout to my boy Omar, owner operator of @lashoyosfunkies he’s the man. I also gotta have my boy @jaguar_eye on board, and in a perfect scenario @rosexfiend she’s beyond talented and makes things happen. I can’t leave out Robert Reyna, he’s my Best friend and brutally real honest and talented!
Coke or Pepsi?
AFX: I’m a weirdo.. diet Dr. pepper all day!! If possible blackberry diet Dr. pepper lol!
What do you want the listeners to know about your music and your project?

AFX:Just that I plan on releasing a variety of different tracks in the next 6 months, after that I’m gonna work on a full length album and of course release content based on the process.
